Peace is a Person

I was about 20 years old and the dad of our house mum (about seven guys were living in that house) just past away. He was well advanced in age, and she was just about to retire. We knew it was going to happen at some point because of how old he was, but that didn’t stop the shock and the pain of the moment.

I remember this like it was yesterday, I crossed path with her in the laundry room, held her in my arms as I could see the pain of loss in her eyes. Then I prayed a prayer that would start me on a journey. I prayed “Let the one who is peace walk into the room”, and an overwhelming, supernatural peace came into the chaos and made it still.

From there books I read, speakers I heard and spending time reflecting and meditating on the Person of Peace lead me to realise that Peace is a Person. His title is the Prince of Peace.

Over the last couple of years, someone I dearly respect mentions that if you lose your peace, go back to the place where you last had it. I can tell you that life isn’t always the pretty photos you see on Instagram. Some moments are tough, really tough, and you need to find that path back to peace.

In making decisions, I found the analogy that peace is a compass. I will go where my heart and mind is peace. However, it is not removing the element of risk in life, but pursuing risk with peace. Sounds like mixing oil and water. I’ve had to learn to invite the Person of Peace into my decisions and my circumstance.

A few days ago, I was on a podcast with my good friend Andrew Montesi, from South Australia. We talked about Partnering with the Person of Peace in life, in business.
